TIBET / NEPAL Mount Everest -- 15 May 2005 -- This photograph taken from the International Space Station shows the north face of Mount Everest (centre) and surrounding glaciers, as seen from the Tibetan side of the border. This photo also reflects how early Monsoon cloud piles up on the Nepali side and very light cloud cover on the Tibetan side. Many glaciers are visible in this image, though most visible are the East and West Rongbuk Glaciers (below right), the Kangsheng Glacier (centre left). Numerous smaller glaciers are also visible, as is Everest Base Camp - just above the East Rongbuk Glacier on the Nepalese side of the border. Scientists say these glaciers are shrinking fast due to global warming caused by climate change, with castastrophic consequences for the agriculture of Asia - which relies on these natural giant frozen water tanks for much of it's fresh water -- Picture by Lightroom Photos / NASA
