EARTH Indus Delta / Pakistan / India -- 7 January 2003 -- This Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) image shows the course of the Indus River through Pakistan, spilling out sediment into the Arabian Sea. The Vegetated area along the river lies in stark contrast to the rugged mountain terrain to the west and the Thar Desert in India to the east. Along the coast to the west of the Indus Delta is the city of Karachi. The MERIS bands were especially chosen in this image to pick up the contrast between land and water so the individualbraided channels and complexity of the delta can be observed -- Picture ¬©¬?Lightroom / ESA
